American Maritime
After years of innovative sculpting from miniatures to monumental, Wegner now adds another new dimension to his work, the “American Maritime Series”. Having lived in and around shipyards during most of his youth, Wegner has seen the romantic and cultural side of American Maritime slowly pass into the history books. Much like his “Jazz and Blues” series, Wegner uses his skills as a sculptor to record these passing moments in bronze. The once bountiful oceans of the world are now at great risk of changing forever, in large part due to the great demand for food and lack of international safeguards for overfishing and proper management. May these sculptures always serve as a reminder of what was once a way of life that will never be the same again.
